The hours for shops and services vary from region to region. In general, the hours are from 9am. to 6pm. There is an increasing frequency of late-evening shopping in London, especially on Thursdays and Fridays. Supermarkets are usually open until 8 or 9pm. Shop hours in smaller country towns are much more restricted, and it is not at all unusual to have one (or more) early closing days, where the shop closes at 1:00. Pubs typically are open 11:00am to midnight.

Banks are generally open from 9:30am to 3:30pm (Monday - Friday) and Saturday morning for the larger banks in the major cities.
