The arrival of Trinidadians in Great Britain, remembering their great Carnivals back home, provided the spark which ignited Notting Hill Carnival. From a small procession through the streets with just a few people in costume and carrying steel drums in the 1960s, has evolved a huge multi-cultural arts festival, attended by up to two million people. It is a great tourist attraction that brings life to London during the month of August.

The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest arts festival in Europe and in Carnival terms is second only to Rio. It's fantastic, it's vibrant, it's full of life, it's for everyone and it is FREE!

Travelogue

My first glimpse of London was as I came up from the London Underground. I immediately saw large black taxis-- in the London style-- and double-decker buses. I felt that London was everything I thought it would be. I was very amazed at how easy it was to get around in the 625 square mile city-- the Underground goes just about everywhere and the buses go everywhere else. I really enjoyed my time in London and would definitely go back, but I would never plan an entire vacation for just London; there is more to the UK than just that one city.
