Come and explore Tampa's premier wilderness attraction for bird watching, photography or just some good, old-fashioned rest and relaxation. Our downstream, quiet water, canoe and kayak trips run through a protected 16,000 acre preserve that features small parks along the riverfront with picnic tables and restrooms making it a 'civilized' wilderness experience. The Hillsborough River is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. On a typical outing, you should expect to see herons, ibis, alligators and turtles. However, we have very frequent sightings of otter, deer, roseatte spoonbills, turkeys and other hard-to-find wildlife. Soon after you depart on your trip, you will find yourself lost in the serenity of the river's embrace. Due to the Hillsborough's overhead canopy of cypress, oak and elm trees, you'll feel an intimacy with nature that's unique to this undiscovered part of Tampa.
