  Travel in Seattle

Travel in Seattle Seattle was named after Chief Sealth. In the 1850's it was moved to its current location, under what is now Pioneers Square. Seattle grew slowly until the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 which brought many starry eyed adventurers west. During World War I, shipbuilding boosted the city and soon it became an industrial center strong with trade unions.

With the influx of companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing, Seattle has shifted from an industrial coast to an urban center known for its unique style, beautiful surroundings, music and seafood. Known as the Emerald City, Seattle is a true jewel surrounded by the vibrant and genuine beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Whether at the top of the skyscraping Space Needle, or under waterfalls that out-do the Niagara, you will always be close to nature.
