Kearney, Nebraska is located in Buffalo County. The city marks the halfway point between New York and San Francisco. It is named fro the nearby Fort Kearney, an army outpost on the Oregon Trail. Many visitors come to view the historic monument from that time of western expansion. Kearny also houses the Museum of Nebraska Art, the state's official art collection.
