Yankee Stadium opened in its current location in the west Bronx in 1923, just across the Harlem River where they'd previously played in the Polo Grounds. The stadium has since been renovated, but the magic of the Yankees lives on. Not including brief periods during the late sixties and early 1990's, Yankee stadium has watched winning teams and legends grace the home field, including old favorites like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Roger Maris to more recent players such as Derek Jeter and Roger Clemens. Historically, the Yankees are one of the most successful sport teams in history having won 26 World Series Championships.

Want to see Yankee Stadium? Better hurry. A new $800 million stadium being built adjacent to the current one could be ready by the 2009 season.
