Mormon missionaries settled in Las Vegas back in 1855. The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort, an adobe building, still stands as a reminder of their culture. The fort was declared a historical place and now offers an interpretive visitor's center. Located downtown, the fort is a nice diversion from the blinding opulence of the casinos.
