Concord was a major battleground during the first few days of the Revolutionary War. The Minutemen National Park stands tribute to the tenacity of the American soldiers.Lovely, verdant Concord also gave way to Thoreau's search for solitude at Walden Pond, and was home to many other early-American literary greats (their homes are open to the public): Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott, and Emerson. All four of their famous graves are situated within the eerie Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
