The 600-year-old Treaty Oak is all that remains of the Council Oaks where treaties with Native Americans were signed. Unfortunately poisoned in 1989, the tree still stands, just not quite as stately and green as before. Texas native Ross Perot donated a blank check to help restore the tree in 1997, after which the tree began producing acorns again.
