The Inigo Jones company was founded in 1861 primarily to prefabricate school slate. Today, the company prefabricates architectural monumental and craft items from natural slate. By popular demand the company opened its workshops to the public in 1980 and the self-guided tour comprises a video presentation then a taped commentary provided by a walkman. There is also an historical, letter cutting and calligraphy exhibition and there is an opportunity to try calligraphy and letter cutting on slate.
