Here in the heart of Bath occurred a seminal moment in the history of Astronomy. In March, 1781, William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus from this house, using a handcrafted telescope. The drawing-room, music room, dining-room, kitchen, workshop and garden present an interesting glimpse into the 18th century. The astronomy room shows Herschel's telescopes and recent NASA photographs and video film of the planets.
