Travel in Zurich Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. Founded during the times fo the Roman Empire, the Roman name for the town was Turicum and in the local dialect Zürich. In Zurich there are many sights of interest - the church Grossmünster, built in 820 and declared by Charlemagne as the imperial church. Fraumünster church, built before 875 and famous for its stained glass choir windows. St. Peter's with the largest clockface in Europe. Lindenhof, the site of the Roman and medieval castle overlooking the river and old town. The zoological gardens, with the dreat glass hall containing the Masolala rainforest ecosystem. The many medieval guild houses along the river. And then there is the musems ranging from Museum Bärengasse, displaying the history of the city in the 18th century to the Migros Museum showing modern and avantgarde international Art. These two are only an example of the diversity in this mountian city.
