Travel in North Coast

The North Coast is sugar country and the coastal hills are covered in a green blanket of cane. Beaches, rivers and lagoons are lined with sub-tropical forest, palm trees and the vibrant colors of hibiscus and bougainvillea. Further north the coast becomes wilder and much of it is protected by parks and reserves. Offshore, coral reefs provide an underwater fantasy for divers and snorkellers, where tropical fish, turtles, rays and dolphins are common- as are sharks! The interior is also worth exploring. Apart from the battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu ward, there are excellent game reserves which provide homes for the "big Five"; buffalo, lion, elephant, leopard, and rhino.
