For a wonderful taste of traditional South Africa, it is hard to beat this fascinating Reserve. Try the Hans Merensky Reserve to learn about traditional South African culture. Situated west of the Kruger National Park on the banks of the Great Letaba River, this reserve was named after Dr Hans Merensky. This famous mining magnate donated a fully equipped borehole to the reserve, and as a result his name lives on in posterity. The reserve has a distinctive flora of small mopane and combretun trees, with a wide variety of game and bird species. Located very far north, it is usually recommended for long visits or returning visitors.
