Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park Approx. Time: 8 hours
Activity Level: Moderate to Strenuous

Pilanesberg National Park, located just outside of Sun City, is South Africa’s 5th largest park. Try to save time for this fantastic national park, filled with all of the wonder and beauty that a visitor could hope for.

Pilanesberg exists within the transition zone between the dry Kalahari and wetter Lowveld vegetation, commonly referred to as "Bushveld". Unlike any other large park, unique overlaps of mammals, birds and vegetation occur because of this transition zone. Springbok, brown hyaena, the redeyed bulbul, and camel thorn trees usually found in arid areas are found co-habitating with moist-area-limited impala, blackeyed bulbul and Cape chestnut trees. The colorful hues, varied habitats and panoramas will delight and entertain photographers and all but the most unobservant visitor. Pre-sunrise and post-sunset drives are possible owing to gate opening/closure times.

Visitors are afforded every opportunity to experience this jewel of nature. There are nearly 200 kilometers of excellent quality roads for either self-drives or guided drives. These wildlife sounds and experiences create unforgettable memories of a stay within the Pilanesberg.
