Bo Kaap Museum

Bo Kaap Museum Approx. Time: 4 hours
Activity Level: Easy to Moderate

A fabulous example of ethnic history and an interesting educational attraction, the Bo-Kaap Museum is furnished as a 19th-Century Muslim home.

This museum is situated in the historic Bo-Kaap in Cape Town, South Africa, an area that became home to many Muslims after the abolition of slavery. Aspects of Muslim cultural heritage are displayed. The building is a rare example of early urban Cape Dutch architecture from the mid-eighteenth century.

An exhibition room on the premises houses a collection of carts and carriages, and is available as a venue for functions and conferences. The center is also used by the Bo-Kaap residents as a place to meet and host their own exhibitions about the Muslim culture.

Open Monday to Saturday 9.30 to 16.30 Closed Sundays and Eid Holidays
