Famed for its spartan oases and its dramatic gateway to the Sahara Desert, Zagora is nestled in the southern arid lands of Morocco. It was here that the Saadians conquered the Souss and then the whole of Morocco in the 14th century. Present day Zagora is a stunning mosaic of Moroccan culture and history, highlighted by massive sand dunes, serene oases, and bustling souks.
It is recommended that you stay the night in Zagora if you plan to visit the desert of Mohomid. Otherwise you can take a day excursion from Ouarzazate.
