  Travel in Casablanca

Travel in Casablanca A business capital of increasing importance and an international metropolis whose development is linked to its harbor trade, Casablanca is an important center in world affairs. Although a commercial and industrial city, Casablanca still retains its strong religious traditions in the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most spectacular in the world. This recent adornment to Morocco's most modern city, the Hassan II Mosque towers majestically from sea to sky, with a nave of incomparable beauty and a prayer room large enough to hold 25,000 worshippers and an esplanade for an additional 80,000. It is a gem of religious architecture, subtly mixing Moroccan tradition with state-of-the-art technology.
The port of Anfa has been spoken of by historians since the 12th century as the axis of its neighboring regions - Chaouia, Rehamnas and Tadla. Anfa was their connection to Europe, enabling export of wheat cereals, wool, hides, beeswax and oil. Although memories of the past remain - bazaars, souks, ramparts around the Old Medina, mosques and marabouts (including that of Sidi Aderrahman, the most often visited sanctuary) - these days Casablanca reflects a nation making rapid progress into the modern world.
