Situated at the center of Tangier, the Petit Socco, or The "Little Market", bustles with the vitality of Moroccan life and culture. The small square, surrounded by historical residences and hotels, evinces the influence of various cultures in Morocco. At opposite ends of the Socco, one can see the 17th century Great Mosque standing in defiant contrast to a 19th century Spanish church.
