The sun-baked mud buildings, which date back to at least the 16th century, are some of Morocco’s most impressive architecture. The clay-mud is both an economical and efficient means of construction as the mud is inexpensive and also insulated enough to keep the inside cool on the steamiest of days. The buildings have been the backdrop for at least 20 movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Jesus of Nazareth.
