The city of Volubilis would have been the best preserved Roman city, as it was not abandoned when the Romans fell, but the city was destroyed around the 18th century to build palaces for Moulay Ismail in Meknes. Many Roman structures still remain, such as the standard Roman military Triumphal Arch.
