Ramparts of Marrakesh

The ramparts of Marrakesh extend over six miles and form an impressive wall of clay and chalk around the city. The ramparts are an impressive 9.6 miles in length with 20 gates and 200 hundred towers. Although most of the walls date from the Almohad period, the extraordinary Bab Aguenaou Gate is the only surviving Almohad original.
