Lake Nakuru is one of the many salt lakes of the greater Rift Valley, and is next to Nakuru town. This small national park is the sanctuary of many mammals, some as rare as the white rhinos, the Rothschild’s giraffes and the leopards. The lake is one of the main stopovers for the pink flamingos when on their restless trips between lakes. Lake Elmenteita and the private reserve of Soysambu are only a few kilometers away from Lake Nakuru. This lake is also one the best places for flamingos watching. The Delamere’s camp has only 15 tents, but most of all offers a real change of scenery for lovers of Africa. As a private reserve, nightly game drives are allowed in Soysambu; a good opportunity to discover some rare night species like pangolins, porcupines, galagos or anteaters.
