Around 420 huge cedar trees are planted in rows near Lake Ashi. Planted in 1618, at the beginning of the Edo Period, they still stand strong today. It is designated as a historical spot by the nation. Cedar Tree Avenue on Old Hakone Highway is closed for a month (First 10 days of November to First 10 days of December) for the revitalization of the ‘Rows of Cedar Trees’.
