Osaka's waterfront mecca for clothes, food, and recreation. The area's natural focus is the Kaiyukan Aquarium. The aquarium is one of the largest in the world. Boat cruises around Osaka Bay are also extremely popular. The aquarium features the world of Mother Nature that inhabits the Pacific Rim. In the center is a Goliath-size tank which represents the Pacific Ocean, while along its perimeter are found 14 smaller tanks with themes on the Sea of Japan, the Great Barrier Reef and more. The tour takes you on a winding course from the top rain forest to the ocean floor. The star attraction at the aquarium is the whale shark. There are some 35,000 animals of 580 different species, with something interesting for young and old alike.
