Heiwa Doori (Street) and the Naha Public Market are the local resident's market area. The area once a post war black marketplace developed to eventually become the kitchen of Naha City. Food, sundries, and clothing can be found in abundance here. Most of those working in the market are Okinawan women, who are known to be vigorous, energetic workers.
