The popular Aoi Matsuri festival is held at this antique shrine. Shimogamo Shrine, in the dense Tadasuno-Mori Forest, is well-known for its hollyhock Aoi Matsuri (Festival) and is located near the confluence of the Kamo and Takano Rivers.
