Nijo Castle

This luxurious castle should be a definite item on every itinerary. Nijo Castle was built by the Tokugawa shogun in 1603, although Tokugawas rarely stayed there. Gorgeous details and a specially constructed 'nightingale' floor were constructed to warn of approaching visitors.
