The Mole Antonelliana is famous for housing the Museo del Cinema. Mole Antonelliana is named after it's architect: Alessandro Antonelli who began construction on it in 1863. Original intended as a Jewish temple it under went some difficulties between the community and the architect. This resulted ina prolonged building time and alterations to both the size and cost of the building. Eventually finished in 1889 the Mole Antonelliana rises to 167.5 meters and has become an iconic image of Turin. The Mole Antonelliana also provides and excellent view of Turin from the panoramic balcony 85 meters up.
