One can hardly miss the massive fortress of the “Castle,” perched at the end of the Sant’Angelo Bridge (studded with beautiful sculptures). The castle was originally built as a tomb for the Emperor Hadrian and over the millennia has served a myriad of purposes, from prison to refuge. Today it houses a museum detailing its history.Courtesy of the Italy Tourism Board
