The charterhouse of Pavia is the pinnacle of Renaissance architecture in Lombardy. This enormous Carthusian monastery was built over a 200 year period. The complex was founded in 1397 and was created by the great Giovanni Antonio Amedeo who was principally responsible for its decoration and building techniques. A wonderful visit!
