By far the most unforgettable sight in all of Milan is the main cathedral (known as the “Duomo” or dome). Towering over the city center, this perfect (and enormous) example of Gothic architecture is stunning in its complexity. Not to be missed are the two opposite extremes in the church: the very spooky crypt and baptistry below, and the beautiful views afforded from the grand walkways on the roof of the Dome (there is an elevator to the top for those not wishing to climb the 150+ stairs).
