Even as a recreation of a stronghold from the Middle Ages, the Castello Sforzesco (so named for the ruling family of Milan who built the original castle) never fails to impress – if only from its sheer size and strength. Today, it contains a museum of art which includes a sculpture by Michelangelo, one of several left unfinished at his death.
