Har Herzl, organizer of the first ever Zionist Congress in 1897 and longed for a Jewish State to solve the problem of anti-Semitism, Herzl was honored with a memorial named the Mount of Herzl after his death in 1944. On the hill across from his memorial now lies the Herzl National Cemetery. Many dignitaries and military heroes are buried there, including Yitzchak Rabin, former Prime Minister of Israel. Also on the property is a museum honoring Theodore Herzl.
