Byzantine Cardo Approx. Time: 2 hours
Activity Level: Easiest

A North to South main street in the Old City, the Byzantine Cardo boasts wide, pillar-lined streets that connect the religious center of the city with the southern section. There is debate over who actually built the original street, as the Byzantine weren’t known for their wide streets, but the Romans, who would have built wider roads, did not need to travel to the southern section as it was not developed during their reign.
