Akko - The Turkish Aqueduct Approx. Time: 1 hours
Activity Level: Easiest

Ahmad El-Jazzar pasha and his sons built the aqueduct in the 18th century. Its purpose was to bring water to the city of Acre (Akko) from the Kabri Springs to the north.

These are the ruins of one of the three stone aqueducts, which snake across the country in a series of impressive arches. The ruins are part of the destruction of the aqueducts evidently caused by Napoleon Bonaparte's troops who besieged Acre in 1799. A ruined tower of the period can also be seen on site.
