Pokhara Tour in India Travel
Pokhara The most popular tourist destination after Kathmandu is Pokhara. It is a valley in central Nepal about 200km west of Kathmandu. The several beautiful lakes scattered around the valley, the grand view of the nearby Himalayan peaks, and the seductive lazy-easy settings of the town make it a great place for one "to have been" than "to have seen."
About two hundred years ago, Pokhara used to serve as an important entrepot for east-west trade route between Western Nepal and Kathmandu and the north-south trade route between India and Tibet. Not much of it remains today. Today, it serves as an important route for many of the trekking routes and hikes in the Annapurna area. People like to come and rest there before or after arduous treks in the neighboring mountains. The altitude of Pokhara is 884m, about 400m lower than Kathmandu. The climate is slightly warmer than Kathmandu with daytime temperature hovering around 15 degrees Celsius in winter and 35 degrees in summer. The monsoon season which lasts from mid-June to mid-September is very wet; in fact Pokhara records the highest rainfall in the country. Best time to visit is between October and April.
