OrchhaApprox. Time: 3 hours
Activity Level: Easiest

Founded in 1531 as a capital by the Bundela Rajput chieftain Rudra Pratap, Orchha is now a village with well-persevered temples and palaces. The city’s greatest period of growth came in the seventeenth century when Jehangir visited and the Jehangir Mahal, a palace with impressive size and views, was built for him. The site rests beside the Betwa River and, although it only remained the capital until 1783, it is still a relaxing place to visit.
