Some 90 kilometers west of Hyderabad, the district of Medak houses the archaeological museum of Kondapur. More popularly known as the "Town of Mounds," Kondapur is rife with excavation sites which have unearthed such ancient treasures as relics of a Buddhist complex from 3000 B.C. and Roman coins of copper, lead, silver and gold. Additionally, exquisitely preserved sculptures in limestone and megalithic graves have been excavated and studied throughout region.
