Berlin is the captial city of Germany. Berlin's history goes back past the 13th century when it first became the capital of the Kingdon of Prussia. Berlin has been the captial of the successive goverments from the Geman Empire to East Germany. From 1961-1989 Berlin, like all of Germany was split in two. After the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 Berlin, once again united grew economically and became, once again a central cultural and tourist location for Germany.
Berlin enjoys a well earned reputation for its festivals, architecture, liberal lifestyle, arts and ecclectic attitudes. Today it is a dynamic and enegetic city booming with new artistic styles and architecture along side the more traditionalistic elements pulling from its deep and powerful heritage.
