Musee HistoriqueApprox. Time: 3 hours
Activity Level: Easiest

Since 1920, the Musée Historique has been housed in the Grande Boucherie - the former city slaughter house - the structure of which dates back to 1588. Items retracing Strasbourg's political, economic and social history and town planning include contemporary scale models, among which is the famous 1725 plan-relief, a model of the city, as well as a collection of paintings, drawings, engravings and lithographs. Weapons, uniforms and other objects cover the city's military history from 1500 to 1945. Other items in the richly varied collection include corporate masterpieces, souvenirs of great men like Kleber, or the costumes and furniture of simple folk.
