A museum of popular and folk art, the Musee Alsacien occupies a group of old Strasbourg dwelling houses. Its decorative painted furniture, ceramics and toys, and colored prints, are a record of the region's traditions. Of particular note are the interiors from the farms of the Rhine plain, the vineyards and the Vosges mountain valleys, representing the different habitats in Alsace. Likewise the reconstitutions of traditional workshops, including those of a blacksmith and a carpenter.
