The Musee des Docks Romains thrived in the face of disaster. After Hitler destroyed the area , including some 2,000 houses, during World War II, the area underwent renovation. During the reconstruction, remnants of the Roman shipping warehouse that once occupied the area were unveiled. The museum grew around the treasures, and today stands as a celebration of the Marseille shipping industry.
