Pont St-Benezet, the first bridge to cross the Rhone at Avignon, has been rumored to have been built in the 12th century by a local shepard named Benezet. The original bridge was 900 yards long. Today, only half of the bridge remains, but spectacular views can still be seen from the remains of this masterpiece.
