Travel in Sao Paulo With a population of 16,000,000, Sao Paulo is the largest city in South America and the 3rd largest in the world. It is the economic center of Brazil. The city is rich in ethnic diversity that can be seen in its neighborhoods, tasted in its many types of food, and heard throughout the streets. The city was founded by a group of Jesuit priests in 1554. Today it attracts people from all over to see its art museums, eat at its many restaurants, and check out its happening night life.
