Niteroi is mostly known for its wonderful beaches, Itaipu, Camboinhas, and Itacoatiara. It is a bus or ferry ride from Rio and has shopping, bars, and clubs. Also located in Niteroi is the Parque do Cidade. This park overlooks the city and contains many tropical plants and vegetation.
