Excursion starts in Puerto Varas. Drive into Puerto Montt using the Old Road, built by the first settlers. Stop in Puerto Montt, in Angelmó, the harbor neighborhood, home of the fish market and the artesian fair (free time to visit both). Drive out of Puerto Montt, through its coastline, passing by Chinquihue and Panitao, beautiful seaside bursting with seagulls and also the location of many sea-product industries, mostly devoted to the main regional export: salmon. Drive off the highway, this time using a very scenic gravel road leading to Monteverde, a rural area, location of an archeological site that changed all concepts about the human population process of America.
The excursion continues to a farm, towards which, transport considers the options of either an oxen or horse-tied cart. On arrival, a toast with ¨cicha¨: traditional, homemade spirit consisting on naturally fermented apple juice; in the meantime passengers attend a very interesting lecture on Monteverde Next, a revitalizing, delicious and typical country lunch. After the meal, a soft-paced, nice walk through the farm, surrounded by the gorgeous native evergreen forest and observe some of the animals pasturing in the farm such as llamas, sheep, fallow deer. Back on the road, drive to Las Quemas, with a photo stop at its curious chapel. Continue up to Nueva Braunau, to visit the German Colonization Museum.
After a day in the country, return to the hotel, (from Las Quemas, drive through a gravel road, until reaching the area of El Tepual to include a visit to the Lahuen Ñadi Natural Park.
