Travel in Temuco
A great starting point for exploring Chile’s Lake District, Temuco is also the cultural center of the Mapuche Indians, the original inhabitants of the area. For over 300 years the Mapuche Indians maintained control over their territory despite many European incursions. Today, the Lake District has almost 3,000 reservations, with Temuco being the tribes’ principal market town.
