Chalten is a mecca for hikers. It lays at the base of the Chalten Mountains (Mountains of Smoke). This little town was founded in 1985 and offers great hikes to lakes, glaciers, and stunning viewpoints. Mountaineers from all over the globe come to Bhalten to ascend the Cerro Torre.
