Cascada de las Animas

Cascada de las Animas Approx. Time: 8 hours
Activity Level: Moderate to Strenuous

Cascada de las Animas is a private nature reserve in the Andes that offers terrific hiking, scenic clear water pools and waterfalls, and a chance to view the elusive Condor.

Cascada de las Animas is a ranch resort owned and operated by Chile's pioneering Astorga-Moreno family and has been in continuous operation since 1840. The resort is a staging area for some of the most exciting and varied adventure vacations found in Chile. Cascada de las Animas is a natural paradise with over 10,000 acres of rugged mountains and valleys, rivers, springs and waterfalls. Nestled between high mountains and forests alongside the roaring rapids of the Maipo river, the resort is located in the Andes Mountains in Cajón de Maipo (Maipo Canyon) only 50 kilometers southeast of Santiago near the Argentina border. The exciting rapids of the Maipo river provide excellent opportunities for whitewater rafting and kayaking. Across the river, an extensive trail system crisscrosses Cascada de las Animas' enormous nature sanctuary and offers unparalleled trekking, bird watching and horseback riding opportunities. Cascada's horseback riding adventures range from 2 hours to 14 days in length and are known throughout the equestrian world.
